Meet the Owner

Joseph P. Tropeano is an aerospace engineer and aviation professional with deep expertise in aircraft design, modification, and fabrication. A University of Florida aerospace engineering graduate, he played a key role in the university’s pioneering “Flying Laboratory” flight-test project, developing real-time sensor integration, telemetry, and data visualization systems for an instrumented Cessna 172 used in aerodynamics and structures education.
As an experienced pilot and aircraft owner/operator, Joseph currently operates a variety of aircraft, ranging from a restored 1946 Aeronca Champ to a Jetprop Aero Commander 690. His hands-on work includes custom aircraft modifications and payload integrations—particularly the fabrication of camera and gimbal mounts on aircraft platforms—to support high-payload, stabilized imaging missions.
Joseph brings A&P-level practical experience in aircraft maintenance, repair, and modification to aerial platforms for ISR and IAA integration. He develops and operates custom aerial platforms for military, documentary, and commercial imaging applications. He also engages in aircraft brokerage and sales.
At Vortex Aviation, Joseph delivers specialized expertise in custom aircraft solutions, experimental operations, and integrated aerial imaging platforms—combining rigorous engineering fundamentals with real-world fabrication skills and regulatory-compliant operations.
Based in Ocala, Florida, he is available for consultation on aircraft modification projects, aerial platform development, and specialized aviation services.
